Legal Defense Program
Free legal assistance is provided to certain indigent CICL detained in jails and detention centers in Manila and Quezon City. Volunteer lawyers represent in court those above 15 years old who are detained for having committed petty crimes, with the aim of having their cases dismissed. The ERDA continuous its legal advocacy aimed at children held prisoners due to circumstances beyond his or her control. With its support to the principles embodied under United Nations Convention on the Rights of the Child, the program embarks on the painstaking task of liberating child prisoners from the confines of detention as well mounting advocacy to protect their rights and uphold their welfare both as children and as human beings.
To minimize if not eradicate the phenomenon of juvenile delinquency, it employs preventive approaches such as free legal assistance and intervention to certain indigent CICL detained in jails and detention centers in Manila and Quezon City.
