Advocacy

Information campaigns are conducted to promote public awareness of child-related issues. Groups of children are mobilized to actively support causes affecting them. Child Participation is identified as one of the basic rights of every Child that is enshrined in the UN Convention on the Rights of the Child (CRC). Responding to the USAID project on Expanding Child participation in Social Reform (ECPSR) in 2000, ERDA in its effort to intensify its advocacy towards children’s participation in local and national legislative processes was able to organize 128 children associations known as Barangay Children Association (BCA) nationwide and was able to federate these associations, now known now as the National Federation of Children’s Association in the Philippines (NaFeCAP). The BCA becomes a solid ground in developing children’s leadership character, potentials and skills; and a venue to advocate their rights as children. |
