Jessica Cox inspires ERDA Tech Students

World-renowned inspirational keynote speaker, Jessica Cox graciously accepted the invitation to speak before the student body of ERDA Tech High School. Born without arms, Jessica flies planes, drives cars, and otherwise lives a normal life using her feet as others use their hands. She holds the titles of the first person without arms in the American Tae Kwon-Do Association to get a black belt, and the first woman pilot in aviation history to fly using her feet. Ms. Cox has been featured in many TV programs. She is the second daughter of a retired American music teacher and a Filipina nurse from Samar province. The audience, which were mostly composed of second year students and class officers from the different year levels, were clearly star-struck at first glance with Ms. Cox. In her talk, Ms.Cox stressed the importance of PERSISTENCE, CREATIVITY, and BRAVERY as qualities that can overcome any obstacle in life. She cited many experiences that helped mold her character. Citing her family, she highlighted the positive influence she got from her parents. During the open forum, she was awed by the well-thought of questions the students had. When asked what she plans to learn next, she was quick to answer that she wants to learn how to ride a unicycle, rock climbing, and how to do pony tailing.
Ms. Cox' presence will surely leave a lasting mark in the hearts of ERDANIANS.
